Engineering Projects

This page highlights a selection of my engineering projects, ranging from competition work in Formula SAE to personal design and prototyping. Each project showcases my process, technical skills, and the outcomes achieved. Please reach out if my work interests you!

FSAE-EV Braking System

I was the responsible engineer for the braking system of Formula Electric at Berkeley's 2024-2025 car. By applying first-principles analysis and risk mitigation strategies at every stage of the design process, I achieved an 8% reduction in pedal box weight without compromising FOS and mechanical stiffness, resolved 4 safety-critical flaws from the previous car, and successfully passed the brake test for the first time in team history.

"Crashing Waves" Kinetic Sculpture

This kinetic sculpture was my final project submission for my Design of Planar Machinery (ME130) class.  I employed kinematic synthesis and force analysis methods in MATLAB to design a custom 5-bar linkage in out-of-phase triplicate whose wave-like motion can be throttle by a vertical slider.

Stroller Emergency Braking System

For my Electronics for IOT (ME100) final project, my partner and I made a stroller with emergency braking functionality. The stroller collects pitch, velocity, and user-proximity data and actuates a braking shoe if it detects a plausible brake deployment scenario. I owned all electronics and firmware development, from circuit design and microcontroller programming to implementing emergency braking logic and actuator control.
